The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man, identified as Innocent Chukwuma, for allegedly using his social media platform to incite the military to overthrow the Nigerian government.
According to reports, DSS operatives apprehended Chukwuma in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @TheAgroman, where he called for a coup and urged Nigerians to support the military.
In one of his posts, Chukwuma reportedly wrote: “A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now. It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country.”
He further accused the current administration of “selling the country to the West” and claimed that only the military could “reset Nigeria.”
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the arrest, confirmed that Chukwuma was taken into custody after monitoring his online activities.
A DSS source disclosed that the suspect is currently cooperating with investigators as the agency continues its probe into the matter.
The DSS has yet to issue an official statement regarding the arrest, but the agency has consistently warned citizens against making statements or engaging in actions capable of threatening national security or inciting unrest.
