2025 ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY: ABIODUN CALLS FOR UNITY, PEACE AMONG NIGERIANS - THE ALTERNATIVE NEWS

 


The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on the people of the State and the country as a whole to join hands with government at all levels towards promoting peaceful co-existence of the country.



Governor Abiodun made this known during the Special Parade/Laying of Wreath ceremony to mark 2025-Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at the Arcade ground, Governor's office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.



He said the armed forces Remembrance Day was set aside as a day to remember all those who laid their lives as sacrifice to protect the nation from either external or internal conflicts, affirming that, the country would be great again.



 "We must do everything to ensure that this nation called Nigeria remains one and indivisible, that is another way of showing appreciation and love, that all their sacrifices for the nation has not been in vain,"



 "What I have always being saying, is that we should not wait for a day like these, meaning that we must not remember them for just one day, which is January 15 of every year’’, he said.



Highlights of the event was the release of pigeons to signify peace and the laying of wreaths by Governor Dapo Abiodun, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly; Rt. Hon Oludaisi Elemide, Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, Paramount rulers of Egbaland, Yewaland, Remoland, Ijebuland, Commissioner of Police, State Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, a widow of one of the fallen heroes, the commandant of the 35 Artillery Brigade and his counterpart from the Nigerian Navy Secondary School.
