Benue: ‘I Am Not Going Anywhere to Fight or Retaliate’ – Bandit Kingpin ‘Fullfire’ Denies Revenge Plot - The Alternative News

In an unexpected development, a notorious bandit kingpin operating in the volatile Sankera axis of Benue State, Terhemen Mzaga Ber Gile, popularly known as “Fullfire,” has publicly denied allegations that he is plotting a retaliatory attack against the Ityuluv community or his brother, Judex, also known as “Chen Hobbo.”

Taking to social media to address the growing tension, Fullfire described the revenge rumours as false and baseless, calling for calm among residents and reiterating his commitment to peace.

“I have no problem whatsoever with the people of Ityuluv or with my brother Judex. It saddened me deeply when I heard that our fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters were losing sleep over false rumours of revenge. I am not going anywhere to fight or retaliate. Mo or hiin ga,” Mzaga wrote.

The rumours, sources say, were triggered by a recent vehicle-related incident, which Mzaga described as an unfortunate accident. He expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal, adding that he trusted God would bless him with a better outcome in due time.

In a reconciliatory gesture, Mzaga extended a hand of peace to his brother Judex, emphasizing the need for unity in the face of common threats.

“Let us come together and focus on the real enemy, those who seek to divide and destroy our people.”

Addressing speculations about leadership rivalry, Mzaga stated he was willing to step aside for peace to reign.

“If it’s about leadership, I am ready to surrender. I agree, he has won. I surrender, as long as there is respect for age and tradition.”

He also criticized divisive political actors, accusing them of exploiting youth rivalries for selfish gains despite lacking true support within the community.

“Our community in Torov has suffered long enough. These politicians can’t even win councillorship seats, yet they exploit our differences.”

Calling on the youth to reject violence and embrace dialogue, Mzaga challenged conflict instigators to send their own children to the frontlines if they truly believed in war.

“To the general public, I assure you: if you come to our youth meetings with peace in your heart, no harm will come to you. Misunderstandings come from lack of communication. We can only heal through talking and unity.”

Mzaga’s message comes amid heightened security tensions in the Sankera region, which has long suffered from waves of banditry, political rivalry, and communal violence. His rare public appeal for peace is seen by some observers as a potential turning point in the ongoing efforts to stabilize the region.
