The Olubadan-in-Council will on Monday, August 5, 2025, begin formal deliberations on the enthronement of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The crucial meeting is scheduled to take place at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, by 11:00 a.m.

According to a notice of meeting issued in Ibadan by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, the session follows the completion of the 21-day mourning period for the late 43rd Olubadan, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, who passed away on July 7, 2025.

“All high chiefs of Ibadanland are expected to attend the meeting,” the notice stated.

The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, is expected to be in attendance. He has been out of Ibadan since the demise of the late monarch but is set to return to the city this weekend, according to sources.

Since Oba Balogun’s passing, Oba Ladoja has been receiving visitors and sympathisers at his Lagos residence.

The outcome of Monday’s meeting is expected to set in motion the formal processes leading to the installation of Oba Ladoja, in line with Ibadan’s traditional chieftaincy hierarchy.
