Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua delivered a commanding performance on Saturday morning, stopping YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul with a sixth-round knockout in their heavyweight bout in Miami.
Although Paul exceeded expectations by surviving beyond the early rounds, Joshua’s superior power, technique, and experience ultimately proved decisive, according to The Athletic.
The British boxer dropped Paul twice during a chaotic fifth round, firmly swinging momentum in his favour and setting the stage for the finish.
Joshua sealed the victory in the sixth round, unleashing a sustained barrage of heavy punches that left Paul unable to continue, forcing the referee to halt the contest.
Speaking after the fight, Joshua quickly turned his attention to longtime rival Tyson Fury, issuing a direct challenge.
“Put down your Twitter fingers, put on some gloves and come and fight me,” Joshua said.
Paul later revealed that he suffered a broken jaw during the bout. He declined to name a future opponent, instead announcing plans to take a break from boxing following the loss, which marked only the second defeat of his professional career.
Despite the setback, Paul remains ranked No. 14 in the WBA cruiserweight division and has recorded notable victories over former world champions.
He previously defeated a 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November 2024 during Netflix’s boxing debut and most recently outpointed 39-year-old Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. in June.
