26-Year-Old Ghanaian Lawyer Dies After Collapsing During World Cup Celebration - The Alternative News

A night of celebration turned tragic after a 26-year-old Ghanaian lawyer reportedly suffered cardiac arrest and died shortly after Ghana’s opening victory at the FIFA World Cup.

The deceased, Sara Araba Tettey, a private legal practitioner who was recently called to the Bar, is said to have collapsed while celebrating Ghana’s win over Panama on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

According to MyJoyOnline, Tettey had been watching the match with friends at Standard Hostel, a private student residence located in Bomso, near Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.

Eyewitnesses said jubilant celebrations erupted after the Black Stars secured victory, but Tettey suddenly became unresponsive in the midst of the excitement.

She was immediately rushed to KNUST Hospital, where medical personnel made efforts to revive her.

Sources indicated that doctors administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for approximately 45 minutes in an attempt to save her life. Despite their efforts, she was later pronounced dead.

Her body has since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary, pending autopsy and funeral arrangements.
