Workers in the Ogun State Civil/Public Service have been called upon to rededicate themselves to the principles of discipline, service and continuous improvement, as supporting one another in building a Civil Service that is efficient, compassionate, innovative and fit for the challenges of the time is non-negotiable.
The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka, made the call when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, held at the newly renovated 'Ile Igbimo Awon Oba' of the Ministry.
According to him, all hands must be on the deck to ensure that the Civil/Public Service keep thriving in all its entirety and appreciated the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the workers and the overall development of the State.
The Head of Service commended the Ministry for equipping its Officers with digital competencies, which he said have translated into schedules being handled efficiently, transparently and innovatively.
He also thanked the leadership of the Ministry for its huge investments in capacity building and staff development, as the initiative would continue to yield dividends through improved local governance and enhanced service delivery to the people.
The HoS equally commended the Ministry's tradition of putting on the original _adire_ attire on Fridays and added that by embracing the cultural heritage within the rhythm of office life, the Ministry is celebrating identity, promoting local artisanship and strengthening communal bonds.
"These practices, coupled with the discipline, orderliness and neat environment evident throughout the Ministry, reflect a healthy organizational culture that honours tradition while pursuing excellence.
"They also demonstrate that professionalism and cultural pride can coexist harmoniously in the workplace, thus, contributing positively to staff morale and institutional effectiveness", the HoS said.
While recognizing the excellent coordination between the Ministry, the traditional rulers and the Local Government functionaries, the Head of Service said the synergy is critical to peace, development and responsive governance at the grassroots and added that the careful stewardship of the relationships reinforces the social contract between the government and the people.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi said the ministry was committed to capacity building, aimed at raising the competence and outlook of every officer in order to make them become productive 21st century workers.
"We recognise that a modern, responsive Civil Service is the foundation for effective local governance and the delivery of services that citizens expect. In that regard, we pledge our continued cooperation with the Head of Service’s initiatives to equip staff with the technical skills, ethical grounding, and innovative mindset required for today’s challenges", the Perm Sec said.
He appreciated the Governor for his farsighted leadership and generous support to the Ministry as these have enabled the Ministry to serve the people of the State as expected.
