Tunisia struggled to cope with Japan’s fluid attacking play, despite efforts from goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen and defender Dylan Bronn.
The defeat confirms Tunisia’s elimination after successive heavy losses and marks a disappointing start for new coach Hervé Renard, who recently replaced Sabri Lamouchi.
Japan now sit level on points with the Netherlands national football team at the top of Group F, strengthening their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.
