The Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Ganiyu Hamzat has said that modern infrastructure is critical to efficient governance, accountability and improved service delivery at the grassroots.
Hon. Hamzat, made this statement during the commissioning of the Executive Chairman’s office and some other structures at the Local Government Secretariat, Sagamu, Ogun State, said sustainable development at the Local Government level could be encouraged when LG councils were provided with facilities capable of supporting effective administration.
He said that the new office wasn’t just a building but an investment that showcased what prudent and transparent spending of public funds could achieve, so that it would be a lasting legacy to those coming hereafter.
He noted that the office complex would improve administrative efficiency, enhance public access to government services and accelerate socio-economic development in the Council Area, urging staffers of the Local Government to continue to support the Executive Chairman to ensure the success of his administration.
Also speaking, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, commended the Council Chairman for delivering the project and urged residents and Council staff to safeguard the facility for future generations.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Odulate, stated that the project was a reflection of his administration's commitment to improving the working environment for Public Servants and enhancing service delivery.
"A modern and well-maintained workplace reflects discipline, accountability and seriousness of government. We believe that when workers operate in a dignified environment, they are better motivated to serve the people with excellence," he said.
Odulate, disclosed that the project was financed entirely from the council's Internally Generated Revenue, saying the development demonstrated that taxpayers' money could be prudently managed to deliver tangible infrastructure and sustainable development at the grassroots.
He also appreciated Governor Abiodun for his continued support and confidence in the local government's vision to transform Public Service in the Council Area.
