NUJ Ogun State Council Disclaims Purported Media Group, LOYAMP - The Alternative News

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has unequivocally disclaimed the body known as the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP), stating that it is not a recognised organ, chapel, affiliate, or professional association under the Council.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju and the Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the NUJ clarified that, for the avoidance of doubt, no group bearing the name “League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP)” exists within the constitutional structure of the Union in Ogun State.

The Council stressed that LOYAMP therefore lacks the authority or mandate to present itself as a body representing media practitioners or journalists in the state.

It further noted that the only duly recognised NUJ chapel serving the axis is the Ota Independent Online Chapel, comprising professional journalists of proven integrity and standing, whose members provide credible news coverage across the Ogun West Senatorial District.

Reaffirming its position, the NUJ, Ogun State Council, stated that it remains the sole recognised umbrella body for practising journalists in the state and will continue to uphold the integrity, ethics and professionalism of the journalism profession.

The Council therefore advised members of the public, government institutions, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to disregard any representation by LOYAMP suggesting that it speaks on behalf of journalists or media practitioners under the auspices of the NUJ in Ogun State.

It reiterated its commitment to protecting the credibility of the journalism profession and ensuring that only duly recognised professional bodies operate under the banner of the NUJ.
