Shina Peller, a former member of the House of Representatives, has declared his intention to contest the Oyo North Senatorial District seat in the 2027 election under the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).
Peller announced his intention in a post on X on Thursday, titled “A New Chapter of Service.”
He wrote: “I am pleased to formally announce my intention to contest for Senate, representing the people of the Oyo North Senatorial District in the 2027 elections under the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).”
Peller said the decision represents a renewed commitment to public service, adding that he intends to contribute his experience, dedication and capacity to the progress of the people and communities in the district.
He represented the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.
In 2023, he contested the Oyo North senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) but lost the party’s primary election to Abdulfatai Buhari, who subsequently won the senatorial election.
Buhari later contested the APC governorship ticket in Oyo State and has indicated that he will not seek re-election to the Senate in 2027.
