Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots leadership and preserving the State’s cultural heritage through the strategic upgrading of deserving traditional institutions across the State.

The Governor stated this during the official installation and presentation of the staff of office to the newly installed Elewuga of Ewuga, Oba Sunday Osho, in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the State.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, Abiodun noted that the installation represented another milestone in his administration’s drive to reposition traditional governance for maximum impact at the grassroots level.

"We realise that traditional institutions and their leadership must be properly positioned, as they serve as a bridge between the people at the grassroots and the government. This is why we have made it a matter of policy to reposition our traditional institutions by upgrading deserving chieftaincy stools in Ogun State," Abiodun said.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Odulate, congratulated the new monarch and urged him to promote peace, unity and development within his domain.

In his goodwill message, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, represented by the Ewusi of Makun Kingdom, Oba Timothy Akinsanya, enjoined Oba Osho, to run an inclusive administration.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Osho, expressed appreciation to Governor Abiodun for the upgrade of the Elewuga stool, pledging to promote socio-economic growth in Ewuga community.

In the same vein, Governor Abiodun has presented the staff of office to Oba Olusola Jayesimi as the newly installed Eleleyi of Eleyi, also in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking through his representative, Dr. Akinlesi, the Governor enjoined Oba Jayesimi, to regard his appointment as a call to service and work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He further appealed to the residents of Eleyi to cooperate with the new traditional ruler to foster community development and attract valuable investments.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Jayesimi, thanked the Governor for his unwavering support for traditional institutions and called on all sons and daughters of Eleyi to join hands with him in driving the community's advancement.

The dual ceremonies attracted several dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Emilola-Gazal Babatunde; former Ogun State Head of Service, Princess Iyabo Odulate; alongside other prominent royal fathers.
