Flight operations of Air Peace have been disrupted nationwide following a protest by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who reportedly shut and locked the airline’s terminals.

The disruption affected operations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where an Air Peace flight scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. was unable to take off.

Similar disruptions were reported at airports across the country, leaving passengers stranded and causing delays to scheduled flights.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, confirmed the development, describing it as a union-related matter.

“Yes, it is a union thing. When I get to the airport, I will be able to get more factual details of the situation,” Achimugu said.

A passenger, identified on X as YoufoundAlex, also expressed frustration over the development, saying he was stranded at the Lagos airport while trying to make a 9:00 a.m. appointment in Abuja.

As of the time of filing the report, Air Peace management had yet to issue an official statement on the protest.

It was also unclear whether the disruption had affected the operations of other airlines.

The development comes amid growing labour tensions involving the airline and its workers.
