The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Ogun State, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, has emphasized the importance of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) forming sustainable alliances with potential donors and supporters to effectively achieve their objectives. He advised against relationships based solely on repeated demands, which can become burdensome.

Speaking at the 3rd Biennial Alumni Conference of Encouragement Initiative Academy, themed "From Transactional Requests to Strategic Alliances," held in Ijebu Ode, Owotomo highlighted the risk of donor fatigue due to constant requests from NGOs. He advocated for a more strategic approach that fosters alliances and adds mutual value.

Owotomo urged NGOs to first understand their needs, engage with the right supporters, and create reciprocal benefits for their benefactors. He also stressed the importance of efficient resource management to ensure the sustainability of their objectives.

Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, Founder and Executive Director of Encouragement Initiative (EI), in his goodwill message, underscored the critical role of NGOs in complementing government efforts, as the government alone cannot meet all the needs of the citizenry. He noted that the conference theme was particularly relevant given the current challenges faced by NGOs.

"The current economic climate imposes significant strain on households and those who support others, necessitating ingenuity, solidarity, and a renewed commitment to assist those in need," Akinlesi stated.

In her welcome address, President , EI Academy Alumni, Temitope Bankole reflected on her achievements over the past two years, highlighting the rewarding nature of service to humanity for the entire Executive Committee.

The conclusion of Bankole's tenure marked the introduction of new Executive Council members, with Oluwagbemi Tiamiyu assuming the role of President for the upcoming two years.

Dr. Bukunola Akinlesi, Co-founder of EI, expressed her gratitude in her remarks. She thanked the Commissioner for the valuable insights shared, promising a more effective and productive NGO in the future to advance the Initiative and benefit the vulnerable and less privileged in society.
