Peace, Unity Remains Non-Negotiable For Sustainable Growth - Gov. Abiodun | The Alternative News




Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reiterated that enduring and sustainable development across the State hinges strictly on an atmosphere of peace and unity among communities.

The Governor made the assertion during the official installation and presentation of the staff of office to the new Alagbele of Agbele Asa, Oba Abisekan Ajibade, in the Yewa North Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking through his representative, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, the Governor advised that all residents must unite behind the traditional ruler to foster the growth of Agbele Asa, warning against divisive actions, noting that communities torn apart by strife and rancour rarely attract meaningful development.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Hon. Dr. Olusola Akinbode, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Joseph Ilori, congratulated the traditional ruler, charged him to preserve the community's rich cultural heritage, empower the youths, drive economic growth and foster harmonious coexistence among his subjects.

Also speaking at the event, the lawmaker representing Ketu Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Wahab Egungbohun, urged residents to rally behind their ruler for collective progress, while advising the monarch to consult widely on strategies to accelerate development in Agbele Asa and its environs.

Delivering a message on behalf of the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Imasayi, Oba Lukuman Kuoye, commended Governor Abiodun for taking governance to the grassroots and positioning traditional rulers to thrive. He counselled the new monarch to remain humble and open to guidance from more experienced royal fathers.

Similarly, the Eselu of Iselu, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, lauded the State government's commitment to decentralizing authority to the grassroots. He further appealed to the State government to tap into the vast limestone deposits within the region, highlighting its potential to generate significant employment for the youth of Yewa North.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Ajibade, expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his administration’s unwavering commitment to the progress of Yewa communities and Ogun State as a whole.

He assured that Agbele Asa, would remain a dependable partner in the state’s development agenda, pledging to govern with justice, peace, accountability, inclusiveness and render selfless service to his people.
