Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled an alleged baby factory at Abaren Village, Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children while arresting six suspects.

The operation, conducted by officers of the Mowe Division on Monday, August 24, 2026, followed sustained intelligence indicating that human trafficking and illegal adoption activities were taking place at a facility on Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the rescued pregnant women were identified as Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, who was seven months pregnant, and Ejekwa Melody, 20, who was eight months pregnant.

Four children, comprising two boys and two girls, were also recovered from the location.

The police arrested Florence Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and an attending nurse, Oseni Idaya.

Babaseyi said further intelligence-led investigations led police operatives to a hospital within the Mowe axis, where another victim, 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong, had given birth to a baby boy on August 20.

He said the whereabouts of the newborn could not be established while the mother was receiving medical attention, leading to the arrest of the attending nurse as investigations continue to locate the baby.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, including determining the full extent of the syndicate’s activities, locating the missing newborn and prosecuting those found culpable.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, commended the Mowe Division operatives for their prompt response and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling human trafficking, child trading and other forms of violent crime.

Ojajuni also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious activities.
