SUBEB Receives Auditor-General For Local Government, Calls For Proper Documentation - The Alternative News

 Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has called for proper documentation, accountability and strict adherence to financial regulations in all its transactions.

The Chairman of the Board, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Board’s office, at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, by the Auditor General for Local Government, Mr. Nojeem Olayinka and his team.

Ifede, said SUBEB remained committed to transparency and accountability, assuring the visiting team that the Board was always ready to provide relevant records whenever audits were conducted by the appropriate authorities.





The SUBEB Chairman, commended the Auditor-General and his team for the visit, urging them to remain committed to the rules and regulations guiding auditing, while identifying and addressing any infractions that might arise.

He also appreciated members of the Board and management for their continued support and cooperation, which he said had contributed significantly to the achievements recorded since his assumption of office.

Ifede, described teamwork as essential to effective leadership, stressing that a good leader must also prepare capable successors who would sustain the progress achieved.

Speaking on behalf of other Permanent Members, Permanent Member I, Barr. Femi Odufowokan, said the visit would further strengthen the existing partnership between SUBEB and the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments.





In his response, the Auditor-General, Mr. Nojeem Olayinka, explained that the visit was aimed at familiarising his team with members of the Board and its management,

He emphasised the importance of continuous interaction, cooperation and an open-door policy between both institutions, while further strengthening the cordial relationship between the two offices, while he commended SUBEB management for the transformation and improved appearance of the Board’s offices, urging the staff not to renege in supporting the Chairman and Internal Auditor in the effective discharge of their responsibilities.

The Auditor-General further stressed the importance of proper documentation of financial records, noting that accurate and up-to-date records would make the work of the Internal Auditor easier.

He also acknowledged the positive impact of the SUBEB Chairman’s leadership on the welfare and development of staff.

Earlier, the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Femi Fatade, expressed the Board’s appreciation for the visit, saying it would further strengthen collaboration between SUBEB and the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments.

Also speaking, Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Yemi Bamgbose, disclosed that the Board’s accounts had been thoroughly examined by the Office of the Auditor-General and endorsed.

He appreciated the visiting team for its positive assessment of the Board and its commendation of the transformation and development of basic education in Ogun State.
