The 2026 Public Service Day starts on Friday, 7th August with a Thanksgiving Jumat Service at the Central Mosque, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta by 1:00 pm.
A release signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Iskeel Olanrewaju Saka, indicated that the all important celebration owes to the impressive contributions of the Civil/Public Service to the socio-economic development of the society, as well as in tandem with the United Nations General Assembly’s proclamation to annually celebrate the invaluable contributions and virtues of the Civil/Public Servants.
The release added that a Thanksgiving Church Service to commemorate the Day would hold on Sunday, August 9th at the Government House Chapel, Isale-Igbein, Abeokuta by 8:30am.
The week-long event, according to the Head of Service, would continue on Tuesday, 11th August, with a diagnostic programme tagged: ‘Know Your Health Status’ at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta at 9.00a.m.
On Wednesday, 12th August, the celebration would feature a "Health Walk" to be led by the Head of Service, beginning at 7am from the frontage of the Ogun State Water Corporation Headquarters, and would terminate at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta by 8.30am.
At 9am same Wednesday, Indoor Games would take place at the Arcade Ground till noon, while Football Matches for the Male and Female Teams from the Mainstream Civil Service and Parastatals would kick-off by 2.00p.m. at the M.K.O. Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The activities would be rounded-off on Thursday, 13th August, 2026 with the Public Service Day Symposium with the theme "Transforming the Public Service: Advancing Innovation, Accountability, Participation and Inclusion", would have the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir as the Lead Discussant, with Mr. Innocent Oseghe, Dr. Tope Olaifa, Mr. 'Fuyi Osunfisan, amongst others as discussants.
Venue of the Symposium is the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta beginning at 10.00a.m.
The Head of Service, Mr. Saka, enjoins all Civil/Public Servants to actively participate in all the activities lined up for the celebration and be seated at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the events.
