36-Year-Old Nigerian Jailed in UK for Masturbating in Front of Woman on Train - The Alternative News

A 36-year-old Nigerian man, Babatunde Odutola, has been sentenced to 44 weeks in prison in the United Kingdom after exposing himself and masturbating in front of a woman on a train travelling towards Manchester.

Odutola, who has no fixed address and is a registered sex offender, was sentenced at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 14, after pleading guilty to outraging public decency and breaching a suspended sentence order.

The incident occurred at about 7pm on Friday, September 11, on a train travelling through Cheshire towards Manchester Piccadilly.

According to British Transport Police, Odutola approached a woman travelling alone, looked her up and down and became aggressive after she refused to engage with him.

He subsequently exposed himself while sitting in a wheelchair and began masturbating while staring at the woman and telling her to “come over.”

A fellow passenger intervened and escorted the distressed woman away from the carriage.

Police said CCTV footage showed that Odutola continued the act while other passengers moved through the carriage.

He was arrested after the train arrived at Manchester Piccadilly and was prosecuted and sentenced within 72 hours of the incident.

Detective Constable Leonidas Christoforou of British Transport Police described the incident as “terrifying” for the victim, saying Odutola had singled her out while she was travelling alone.

Christoforou said Odutola showed little remorse and initially denied the allegations during his police interview, but CCTV footage and witness accounts provided evidence against him before he eventually pleaded guilty.

The officer added that the incident was not Odutola’s first offence and that he was already a registered sex offender.

British Transport Police urged passengers who experience or witness similar incidents on the railway to report them by texting 61016.
