The Ondo State Police Command has reportedly arrested Hon. Ware Ojo, popularly known as “Aruwe, Authority 001,” and his wife over alleged possession of substances suspected to be cocaine, methamphetamine, opium and other illicit drugs.

The incident reportedly occurred in Oka-Akoko, where police operatives allegedly recovered substances estimated to be worth more than ₦30 million from the couple’s residence.

A locally fabricated firearm was also reportedly recovered from the residence.

The development took a further turn following allegations that Ojo mobilised some individuals who subsequently attacked the police station after his arrest.

According to reports surrounding the incident, some police personnel, including Sergeant Abiodun and Inspector Osha, were injured during the alleged attack and taken to Faith Hospital, Oka-Akoko, for medical treatment.

Police also reportedly recovered a Lexus RX 350 SUV with registration number AUTHORITY 01 in connection with the incident.

However, the circumstances surrounding Ojo’s detention reportedly changed after the Divisional Police Officer of the Oka-Akoko Division, SP Makanjuola Damilola, allegedly received a telephone call from Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Following the call, Ojo was reportedly released from police custody, while the exhibits recovered during the operation, including the suspected illicit drugs and firearm, were retained by the police.

The circumstances surrounding the reported release, the alleged attack on police personnel, and the ownership and status of the recovered exhibits are expected to form part of the investigation.

Ojo was recently appointed as an aide to Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Efforts by SaharaReporters to reach the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, for comments were unsuccessful as of press time. He reportedly did not answer calls to his mobile phone or respond to a text message sent to him.
