A man identified as Muhammadu Usman Fulani of Kato Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State reportedly lost a hand during a cutlass fight with another man, Muhammadu Aliyu Fulani, in Beji community.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 28, 2026, according to a police situation report obtained by SaharaReporters.

The report stated that the incident happened at about 1:20 a.m. after Usman travelled to Beji, where he met Aliyu with an unidentified woman.

According to the report, Usman told Aliyu that he wanted to speak with the woman.

The situation reportedly escalated after both men drew their cutlasses and engaged in a fight.

During the confrontation, Usman sustained injuries that resulted in the amputation of his hand, while Aliyu suffered multiple cutlass wounds of varying degrees.

The report, signed by the Divisional Police Officer, Maikunkele, stated that the incident came to the attention of the Officer-in-Charge of Beji following a distress call from General Hospital, Beji.

Usman was subsequently rushed to General Hospital, Beji, for medical treatment, while Aliyu was taken to Hajiya Zainab Clinic in Beji.

The police said both men were responding to treatment as of the time of the report.

The case remains under investigation, according to the police.
