Nigerian dancer and entertainer, Poco Lee, has denied allegations of rape and sexual assault against him in the United Kingdom, insisting that he is innocent as the case remains active before the court.

Poco Lee, whose real name is Iweh Pascal Odinaka, faces charges of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration, according to the Snaresbrook Crown Court.

The court had confirmed that the matter was scheduled for plea and trial preparation on September 15.

Reports circulated on social media last Friday claiming that Poco Lee had been released from a UK prison and that the complainant had either withdrawn the case or reached an out-of-court settlement.

Social media influencer Pamilerin Adegoke claimed that the dancer had regained his freedom after spending weeks in custody, while social media personality VeryDarkMan also said during an Instagram Live session on Sunday that Poco Lee was no longer detained.

Although Poco Lee did not directly confirm the circumstances surrounding his reported release, he used the session to maintain his innocence.

The dancer said he would accept responsibility if he had committed the offence but insisted that he had done nothing wrong.

“I was just being myself. My only worry out there was my people, like Jago. He could not do anything business-wise or on social media,” Poco Lee said.

“If I did what someone said I did, I would say I am suffering my sins. As I did not do anything, my mind is as pure as anything.”

He also expressed appreciation to those who continued to stand by him, particularly music star Burna Boy and Jago, saying they would not have supported him if they believed he was guilty.

“And for Burna Boy and Jago to stand for me. I am a jolly good fellow. Even when I did not do anything,” he added.

However, the reported release does not mean that the criminal proceedings have been withdrawn.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed last week that the sexual offence case involving Poco Lee remains active ahead of his scheduled court appearance on September 15.

The claims circulating online about a possible withdrawal of the case or an out-of-court settlement have therefore not been established by the court or prosecution authorities.

Poco Lee remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in accordance with the law.
