As part of her efforts to contribute meaningfully to the development of the education sector in the country, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated library resource materials to the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Receiving the materials in Abeokuta, Chairman of the Board, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, said the materials, which included storybooks and other learning materials, would be distributed to 25 Public Primary and Junior Secondary Schools with library facilities.
Ifede, assured that other schools without libraries would soon have library facilities, adding that learning materials, such as school bags, shoes and others that would facilitate learning and create a conducive learning environment, would also be donated by the donor.
He appreciated the First Lady for the gesture, promising that the materials would be used judiciously and serve their intended purpose.
Earlier, the State Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Coordinator, Mr. Sola Badmus, explained that the books were meant to promote reading culture and aid effective communication among learners.
