The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, has charged local government council personnel to increase their productivity for enhanced service delivery at the grassroots level.
The Commissioner gave the charge during the official commissioning of the newly renovated Yewa South Local Government Secretariat in Ilaro, saying that the comprehensive rehabilitation of the administrative complex was aimed at addressing long standing infrastructural deficit, to create a conducive environment for workers as well as restoring the dignity of local governance in Yewaland.
He commended the commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration to strengthening local government administration across the State, adding that a modern physical workplace remained essential to effective public service delivery, as council’s staff are the direct drivers of grassroots development.
He urged the secretariat personnel to maintain the renovated facilities responsibly and adopt an enhanced work ethic to ensure that residents experience seamless administrative processes, while commending the Council Chairman, Hon. Abraham Ogunsola, for judiciously utilising available resources to deliver the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
Lending their voices in separate goodwill messages, the Olu of Owode Yewa, Oba Matthew Akindele and a former Senator of the Federal Republic, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, applauded the chairman for the infrastructural developments and unprecedented projects executed across the local government area, urging him not to relent, but to sustain the momentum of governance.
In his remarks, Hon. Ogunsola, expressed appreciation to Governor Abiodun for his unwavering support in fulfilling electioneering promises through developmental projects across Yewa South.
The chairman stated that the projects were executed to bring governance closer to the people, noting that they represented his administration's deep commitment to the welfare and progress of the constituency.
He further admonished community beneficiaries to take ownership of the facilities by ensuring proper maintenance for current and future generations.
Other projects commissioned alongside the secretariat included: a newly constructed block of classrooms with desks and benches at United African Methodist Church Primary School, Eleja; a block of 8 classrooms in Ajilete; and 10 lock-up shops at Sayedero Market, Ilaro to mention a few.
Dignitaries present at the event included; the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Lateefat Ajayi, prominent APC leader, Chief Iyabo Apampa, Royal fathers among other top government officials and community leaders.
