Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, saying she is staying out of politics.
Abraham was listed as a member of the council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, alongside actors including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.
However, reacting to the published list on Instagram, the actress said she had not joined any campaign council and urged the public to disregard her reported inclusion.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”
Her statement comes against the backdrop of controversy that followed her public support for Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, which led to sustained criticism and online attacks against her.
The actress subsequently faced several disputes over alleged cyberbullying and defamatory comments concerning her and her family. She has also spoken publicly about the emotional toll of the attacks.
Despite Abraham’s latest statement, her name reportedly remains on the published 33-member Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the Lagos APC campaign council.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka is listed as Director of the directorate, with Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.
