2026 Teachers' Day: Abiodun Splashes Millions on Teachers, Schools, Administrators - The Alternative News

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has rewarded outstanding teachers, students and School administrators for their exceptional performances as the State joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.


The event which took place at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, was part of the administration’s continued efforts to encourage teachers to improve their performance and contribute more to the development of education in the State.


Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, Governor Abiodun commended teachers in the State for their maturity, dedication and decency since the inception of his administration, describing investment in education as an investment in the future of the State.


The Governor said that through the Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda (OGSERA), the State had strengthened curriculum delivery, school management, technology, infrastructure, funding, as well as the welfare of teachers and learners.





He added that the Digital Education Revitalisation Agenda (DiPER) had further strengthened School administration, Education delivery and accountability, thus, enabled the government to identify more needs and channelled resources more effectively.


Abiodun, also rewarded the best teachers in Public and Private Schools, outstanding students in Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, as well as the best school administrators in the public and private categories.





For the Best Teachers in the Public Primary Schools category, Mr. Rasaq Babatunde emerged first, Mrs. Ayedun Oluwakemi, came second, while Mrs. Ajayi Fatimo Bisola, took third position. They received ₦2.5 million, ₦1.5 million and ₦1 million respectively.


In the Junior Public Schools category, Mr. Olugbemi Soleye, Mrs. Abosede Akande and Mrs. Funmilayo Kuye emerged first, Second and third respectively, while Oluwaseun Adebayo, Beatrice Akomolafe and Àjọṣe Aderibigbe, took the first, second and third positions in the Senior Public Schools category.


In the Best Teachers, Private Schools category, Mrs. Ayoka Akanni of Breakthrough Academy, Akute and Mr Kehinde Olusegun of Anglican High School, Quarry, emerged first and second respectively.


For the Best Administrators in the Public Category, Mr. Raymond Sodipo of Muslim Primary School, Ago-Oko, Abeokuta, emerged first; Mrs. Oluranti Bankole of African Church Primary School 1, Ayetoro, came second; while Mrs. Silifat Olakitan of Abeokuta South Local Government Nursery/Primary School, Ijemo, Abeokuta, took third position.


Community Nursery and Primary School, Mile II, and Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Iperu, also received ₦10 million each as the best schools in the Primary and Junior Secondary Schools categories respectively, among other cash prizes presented to outstanding awardees.


The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Award of Distinguished Leadership in Technology-Driven Education and Innovation to Governor Abiodun.


The OgunLearn Ambassadors also presented a Special Award of Excellence to the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to foundational learning, human capital development and sustainable basic education in Ogun State.
