HoPE-CT Intervention Cascades to Sagamu Households, Targets More Beneficiaries - The Alternative News

The Federal Government's Households Prosperity and Empowerment - Cash Transfer (HoPE-CT) Programme  intervention for Poor and  Vulnerable households across all Local Governments Areas has been extended to Sagamu Council Area of Ogun State.  The initiative is designed to provide financial support at the grassroots level.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen during the distribution exercise at Sagamu Town Hall, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Special Duties, Hon. Aderayo Adedapo, disclosed that the effort is expected to uplift the targeted beneficiaries.

The SSA stressed that the gesture was intended not only to provide immediate relief but also to help improve household welfare, create opportunities for beneficiaries to strengthen their livelihoods, and build economic resilience in the country.

"The HoPE-CT programme is part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen Social Protection for Poor and  Vulnerable Nigerians.

"17,346 ATM Debit Cards are available for distribution across Local Government areas of the State, while 961 cards were allocated to Sagamu Local Government beneficiaries, as was done for other Local Government Areas," Hon. Adedapo explained.

While appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led Administration in the State for various programmes and policies geared towards providing succour and alleviating poverty in the Nation and the State at large, Hon. Adedapo admonished the beneficiaries to safeguard their cards and personal banking information and follow official procedures when accessing their funds.

Contributing, the State Programme Manager, Ogun State Cash Transfer Unit, Mr. Damilola Owoojuona, encouraged those whose names were not yet on the list to remain hopeful, as the intervention is being implemented in batches. "We were here this year — in March, July, and again this month of September. Rest assured that as long as you're captured under the National Social Register, it will hopefully be your turn later," he said.

Earlier, the Gender and Social Inclusion Officer, State Cash Transfer Unit, Mrs. Rachael Hokon, posited that vulnerability and poverty do not affect people in the same way. Therefore, inclusion remains a hallmark of the National Cash Transfer Programme to ensure that eligible households, particularly poor and vulnerable househols, benefit from the programme.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Abdul Hamid  Adegboye and Mrs Akindaini Adepeju commended the Federal Government for the financial support towards improving their livelihood.
