OGSG ’LL CONTINUE TO PRIORTISE WORKERS' WELFARE - HoS

Ogun State government has restated that the wellbeing of workers in the state will continue to be on its front burner, as the man at the helm of affairs in the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is a worker-friendly, highly focused and responsible governor.

The Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, stated this while featuring on a television programme, "Ogun State Civil Service in Perspective", to commemorate first year in the Second Term of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, stating that government had placed high premium on the welfare of its workforce through various interventions and policies that would make life meaningful for them.

Mr. Onasanya revealed that the sum of N1b each had been approved for both the State and Local Government pensioners, while years of arrears of their Basic Rent and Transport (BRT) allowances were offset by the present administration, to ameliorate the harsh economic difficulties being faced by the pensioners.

He added that the state’s economy had continued to grow with over 6,000 industries, just as Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme was thriving, calling for total participation of all, especially the formal sector, to key into the programme for effectiveness and overall well-being of their workers.

The Head of Service advised Civil and Public Servants to continue to play their role as 'engine room' in the background, to give meaning to government’s policies and programmes, urging them to justify and reciprocate government’s vested interest in their welfare by rededicating themselves to duty.

"To our workers out there, I want to assure you that I will continue to be an apostle of equity, justice and fairness in all my dealings. Civil Service will continue to remain the engine room of government, therefore, continue to play that role at the background as government has done a lot and still doing a lot to rev up the engine", he said.

He appreciated the founding fathers of the Civil Service for entrenching discipline and ethical standards, promising to sustain the legacies laid down by the forebears, while capacity building of workers would be sustained in his tenure as Head of Service.

Meanwhile, Mr. Onasanya, has charged the Management Operational Officers of the Ogun State Television (OGTV) to continue to hold the fort, consolidate on the gains of the founding fathers and enhance the operational efficiency of the station.

The Head of Service gave the charge when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Management Operations Meeting of the station headed by the General Manager, Mr. Tunde Kassim, at OGTV premises, along Ajebo Road, Abeokuta, enjoining them to put strong feedback mechanisms in place, intensify efforts at revenue generation, continue to maintain and retain the station's viewership through good contents and remain a pride of the state.

"Continue to keep the flag flying, do not relent or let the mantle fall off your shoulders because you are our pride", he said.

He commended Governor Abiodun for providing a new transmitter for the sister station, Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), to ensure excellent production and transmission from the station.
