Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has visited the Ogun State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to commiserate with management and staff members of the Commission over the death of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Barrister Niyi Ijalaye.
Governor Abiodun, while addressing the staff of the Commission, described the exit of late Barrister Ijalaye as extremely painful, noting that the deceased was an amiable, soft spoken, humble gentleman, who lived an impactful life and always ensured that truth prevailed no matter the circumstance. He said, he would be fondly remembered for being upright while alive.
He acknowledged the contributions of the late REC towards the sustenance of democracy in the state, adding that his diligence and meticulous attitude in the discharge of his constitutional duties would be greatly missed.
"I want appreciate this hardworking man because I recall all the events leading to our election, all the events during our elections, all the events post our election and how calmly; how steadfast he held the Commission to ensure that the Commission took the path that was right and what was just", he said.
In her remarks, Director of Finance and Accounts in the Commission, Mrs. Rabiat Akinola, solicited for the state government’s support for the family of the deceased and the Commission.
