Disappointing Comment: PDP summons Wike over alleged anti-party activities

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities.

Wike, a former Rivers governor, has been at odds with PDP leadership since last year’s presidential primary.

The summons follows Wike’s public criticism of PDP and perceived support for the All Progressive Congress (APC).

In a recent television interview, Wike dared PDP to expel him, citing his contributions to the party, including installing several governors, senators, and lawmakers.

He also alleged that many PDP governors and leaders are secretly fraternising with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and nominating candidates for appointments in the APC government.

Reacting, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the former Rivers State Governor has been sent a letter to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.

Abdullahi disclosed this in an interview with Channels TV monitored by online platform on Monday.

“Wike should be able to manage his words carefully; that was a very disappointing remark. We weren’t expecting him to say that, and we are not with him on that to be honest with you,” he told Channels Tv.

The PDP’s decision to summon Wike aims to address internal conflicts within the party.

Wike opposed PDP’s zoning of the presidential slot to the North and worked against the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the February elections.

Wike’s response and potential disciplinary action remain uncertain.

Similar summons or suspensions have occurred in Benue and Osun states for gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
