Edo Poll: Any Missteps Under New Administration Will Affect Civil Servants - Gov. Obaseki Warns - The Alternative News

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has warned the state’s civil servants that
any missteps under a new administration would first affect civil servants.

Speaking during a thank-you meeting with public servants in Benin City on Tuesday, Obaseki explained the importance of continuity in governance, warning that there is potential consequences should the opposition win the forthcoming governorship election slated for Saturday, September 21.

He enumerated the strides made in modernizing the state’s civil service through technology-driven reforms and called on voters to ensure the progress is sustained.

He expressed concerns about the risk posed by electing inexperienced leaders, warning that such a scenario could be disastrous for Edo State’s development.

In a show of support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, Obaseki praised him as a capable leader who would continue his administration’s work.

He emphasized the critical importance of choosing leaders with the necessary skills and vision to guide the state’s future.

In his response, Ighodalo lauded Obaseki’s reforms, particularly in the civil service, and promised to build on his achievements if elected.

He urged citizens to vote in large numbers and protect their votes on election day.

The State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, also praised the governor for his contributions and expressed gratitude for the reforms in Edo’s civil service, wishing Obaseki continued success in his efforts.
