Animashaun Urges Epe Residents To Embrace Values Of Patience, Resilience - The Alternative News

 


Ms. Surah Animashaun, Chairperson, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, has encouraged all residents of the council to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience, particularly in the light of current challenges facing the nation.


Animashaun, who made the call at the 2024 World Sight Day, with the theme: "Love Your Eyes - Kids," held at the Council Secretariat, Ita-Marun, Epe, Lagos State.


She noted that it was imperative to take care of the eyes and the kids, as the theme of this year’s World Sight Day: "Love Your Eyes - Kids," noting that she recognises the significance of the anniversary as a key milestone in taking care of eyes and that of the kids.


She said that over 6,000 residents and inhabitants of the council benefited from the free eye surgeries and glasses to commemorate the day in the council area, noting that the exercise would be a continuous process after the day, as the people troop out en-masse to examine their eyes.


She said World Sight Day is a global healthcare event celebrated on the 2nd Thursday of every October to emphasise public awareness with respect to shedding light on the prioritising of vision and eye health, saying the council could not avoid to miss the day as it has a very significant in the human life and beyond.


Animashaun also reiterated her dedication to the ongoing intervention programmes, effective rehabilitation and renovation of roads, classrooms and health care centres, aimed at fostering the growth and development of the local government council area.


She further expressed optimism that through collective efforts and responsibility, the residents can work toward a brighter future for the council, state and the nation at large.


The Chairperson urged the residents of the council to honour the legacies of notable Epe indigenes to work together to make the council great, saying blackmailing, backbiting and campaigning  of colomny could not lead the council to the greater heights.


Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Grace Jonah and Omotade Adeyinka respectively appreciated the state and local government council, especially the Chairperson, Surah Animashaun for making their eye health paramount, promising to ensure they take proper care of their eyes.
