The Onirete of Irete-Ijebu, Oba AbdulGaniu Awokoya-Yesufu, has reaffirmed his commitment to the growth and development of Irete town, emphasizing its importance in enhancing the town’s socio-economic wellbeing.

The monarch made this declaration during the grand finale of the maiden Irete Owo-Ila Day celebration, held recently in Irete-Ijebu.

Oba Awokoya-Yesufu highlighted several achievements recorded since his ascension to the throne, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights, completion of the first phase of the town’s market, commencement of the second phase, empowerment of local traders, and ongoing road grading projects adding that these initiatives are vital steps toward improving the town’s infrastructure and economic activities.

Speaking on the significance of the festival, the monarch noted that the Irete Owo-Ila Day has come to stay, serving as a platform to celebrate the town’s cultural heritage and developmental strides.

“This celebration is not only a reflection of our culture, heritage, and unity, but also an opportunity to showcase our progress, celebrate our successes, and inspire future generations,” he said.

He called on residents to promote the festival beyond the borders of Irete-Ijebu and work collectively to place it on the global map.

Oba Awokoya-Yesufu also acknowledged the support of Governor Dapo Abiodun and appealed for the establishment of a primary school in the town to further boost educational development.

In his remarks, the Minority Leader and member representing Odogbolu State Constituency, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, described the event as a powerful unifying force for the indigenes of Irete-Ijebu.

“I congratulate Kabiyesi and all indigenes on the successful maiden edition of the Irete Owo-Ila Day. This event is rich in cultural heritage, and I urge everyone to continue supporting the Kabiyesi, who has the town’s best interest at heart,” he said.
