The Ogun State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called for an investigation into the tragic incident that claimed the lives of 21 members of the Kano sports contingent who participated in the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun. 

The incident occurred when a bus conveying the athletes crashed while they were returning to Kano, resulting in the loss of over 21 lives.

In a statement, SWAN Chairman Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji expressed condolences to the Kano State government, SWAN members in the state, and the families of the deceased. 

He described the incident as painful and sad, praying for the families to find solace during this difficult time, urging the government to probe the incident to prevent future occurrences.

The statement highlights the need for a thorough investigation to ensure the safety of athletes and prevent such tragedies in the future.
