Permanent Secretary in the Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, has called on Officers of the State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) to effectively implement the knowledge and skills acquired during their recent capacity-building programme to bolster security across the State.
Dr. Akinlesi, made this appeal during the closing ceremony of the three-weeks field training at Corps Academy in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the State, with the theme: "Community-Based Security Interventions Challenges, Opportunities, and Best Practices," aimed at equipping officers with contemporary strategies to address evolving security challenges.
Emphasising the importance of staying abreast with modern security trends, he lauded the leadership of the So-Safe Corps for their commitment to continuous training and retraining of personnel, noting that such initiatives were crucial for enhancing the corps' capacity to address the State's diverse security needs.
"I commend your active participation in this programme, your dedication to service is evident, and the Ministry recognises your efforts. We are actively working towards integrating So-Safe Corps personnel into the Ogun State Civil Service, a project that, by God's grace, will materialise soon. Continue your commendable service to humanity, and remember to uphold the values of diligence and prayer," he said.
The Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun, for his unwavering support in fostering a peaceful environment across the State, which had positively impacted the working conditions of So-Safe Corps personnel.
He acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the So-Safe Corps and the Nigeria Police Force, commending the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, represented by ACP Bamidele Job, the Area Commander of Ilaro, for their support in enhancing synergy between the two security agencies to effectively combat crime in the State.
Earlier in his remarks, Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, said training and retraining of officers at the Corps’ Academy would significantly enhance operational strategies aimed at curbing crime and criminality across the State, revealing that the training was carried out in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and the Corps' internal experts.
Commander Ganzallo, stated that the capacity-building programme was designed to equip officers with practical knowledge on community-based security interventions, thereby improving their efficiency in service delivery, assuring that the Corps remains committed to supporting the government’s efforts in maintaining peace and public safety, while aligning with the "Building Our Future Together" agenda of the Ogun State Government.
Responding, two participants of the training, Superintendent of Corps Aron Murina, Divisional Officer, Yotomi Division under the Owode-Egba Zonal Command, and Public Relations Officer of the Oba Area Command Oseni Ronke, , commended the leadership of the So-Safe Corps for organising the impactful training, pledging to apply the knowledge gained in their daily operations to improve service delivery.
