Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar joined several prominent Nigerian leaders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), at the 70th birthday celebration of former Bauchi State Governor and ex-PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu.
The event, held on Saturday, brought together a high-profile array of political figures, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, among other eminent Nigerians.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Atiku reflected on his working relationship with Muazu during the 1999–2007 administration under President Obasanjo.
“Yesterday, I joined my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with many other prominent Nigerian leaders, in paying tribute to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu,” Atiku wrote.
“As Vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Muazu and other governors who served within that period to lay the foundation for good governance and a private sector-led economic growth for Nigeria.”
The former Vice President used the occasion to congratulate Muazu, wishing him many more years in good health and vitality.
The gathering is seen by political observers as significant, coming at a time of heightened consultations and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
