Benue Killings: Bobrisky Slams Senators Over Silence Amid Massacre - The Alternative News

Controversial Nigerian media personality, Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, has criticized Nigerian lawmakers for their silence over the recent mass killings in Benue State.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Bobrisky expressed outrage that the Senate and House of Representatives swiftly convened meetings over his 2024 legal troubles involving abuse of the Naira, but have remained indifferent to the reported massacre of over 200 people in Benue by suspected armed herdsmen.

“Senator/House representative didn’t call urgent meeting over the killing happening in Benue. But they can call an urgent meeting when it comes to Bobrisky. Shame, shame!!!! Shame!!! What a shameful country,” he wrote.

Bobrisky, who was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), made headlines earlier in the year for not serving jail time despite being convicted.

Meanwhile, PUNCH Online reports a growing wave of anger among Nigerians on social media, with many calling on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Benue State. The outcry follows what many describe as a two-day bloodbath that claimed hundreds of lives in rural communities.

Some commentators are drawing comparisons to the federal response in Rivers State, where a political crisis involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara led to his suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in March 2025, noting the stark contrast in urgency between political and humanitarian crises.
