BREAKING: PDP Finally Reinstates Wike’s Ally, Samuel Anyanwu, as National Secretary - The Alternative News

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially reinstated Samuel Anyanwu as its National Secretary, marking a significant shift in the party’s internal dynamics.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Ambassador Iliya Damagum, the Acting National Chairman of the party, during a press briefing attended by key party leaders including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and other stakeholders.

Damagum noted that while the decision to reinstate Anyanwu into the National Working Committee (NWC) was challenging, it ultimately received the backing of a majority of the party’s organs and members.

“Anyanwu is resuming as the National Secretary. That is why I said it was a critical decision,” Damagum stated.

He further revealed the cancellation of the previously planned National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, citing procedural issues.

“Like INEC said, they don’t have our notice, so what we will have on June 30th is an extended Caucus. At the next Caucus, we will take a decision leading to a proper NEC,” he explained.

Anyanwu, a known ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, had faced resistance from some factions within the party following his controversial gubernatorial bid in Imo State while holding the office of National Secretary. His reinstatement is expected to rekindle internal debates over loyalty, zoning, and control within the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
