Businessman and Philanthropist Alhaji Aminu Dantata Dies at 94 - The Alternative News



Renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, has passed away at the age of 94.

The news of his death was shared on Saturday via social media by Uba Tanko Mijinyawa, Deputy National Treasurer of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA). He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and noted that funeral (Janazah) arrangements will be announced in due course.

In his tribute written in Hausa, Mijinyawa said:

 “Inna Lillahi wa’inna ilaihi Raji’un. Allah ya yi wa babanmu Dattijo, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, rasuwa. Muna addu’a Allah ya jikan sa, ya gafarta masa.”



(Translation: "Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. May Allah have mercy on our father and elder, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata. We pray for his forgiveness.")

The passing was also confirmed by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid, who expressed heartfelt condolences and offered prayers for the late Dantata.

Alhaji Dantata, a towering figure in Nigeria’s business community, was the founder of Express Petroleum & Gas Company Ltd. and played a foundational role in establishing Jaiz Bank, Nigeria's first non-interest Islamic bank. He was also widely recognized for his philanthropy and as the uncle of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

May Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings.
