Eid-el-Kabir: Ogun Amotekun Saves Gunshot Victim, Recovers Robbers' Vehicle - The Alternative News

The Ogun State Security Network, also known as Amotekun, successfully foiled a robbery attempt in the early hours of Saturday, following a swift response to a distress call from Akinale Town in Ewekoro Local Government Area.

According to a statement signed by the Deputy Corps Commander, Col. T.T. Bakare (rtd), the incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. and involved a 28-year-old man, Opeyemi Olusanya, who sustained a gunshot wound to the upper region of his left limb. He was rescued at the scene by operatives from the Ewekoro Command of Amotekun.

Upon arrival, the operatives encountered the robbers attempting to escape in a wine-colored Kia Cerato with registration number KRD 840 JS, identified as belonging to one Ariwoola Abiola Wasiu of Ifesowapo Estate, Adunbu, Itori.

The statement noted that the robbers, on sighting the Amotekun officers, fled into a nearby bush, abandoning their operational vehicle. However, they managed to escape with several valuables, including eight high-end mobile phones, two laptops, jewelry, and a cash sum of ₦54,000.

The recovered vehicle has since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Itori Division, which is now collaborating with Amotekun to investigate the robbery and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Olusanya, the gunshot victim, was found in a pool of blood and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Obada-Oko for emergency medical care.

In view of this, members of the local community have commended the swift and decisive action of the Ogun State Amotekun Corps, praising their continued commitment to the safety of residents and their effectiveness in responding promptly to distress calls.
