ITPM to collaborate with Ogun to improve tourism sector - The Alternative News

 

Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi has  disclosed that the collaboration between the Institute for Tourism Proffessionals of Nigeria (ITPN), Government Agencies, Private Stakeholders, and Local Communities are crucial in driving the growth of tourism industry in the State.


 The Commissioner stated this at the inauguration of the Ogun State Chapter of the Institute and a tourism roundtable organised by the ITPN, Ogun State Chapter  held at the Spices Events Hall, Abeokuta with the theme ; Sustainable Tourism : A Panacea For Job Creation and Economic Growth.

Fagbayi while commending the executives of the institute added further that  significant step towards harnessing the immense potential of tourism in the State.

"I commend your tireless efforts in promoting best practices and standards in the industry as well as your commitment to capacity building, research, and advocacy  which has been instrumental in shaping the future of tourism in Nigeria", he emphasized .

The National President of  ITPN, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo  added that the  collaboration will move Ogun State tourism sector to the next level and showcase tourism opportunities to the advantage of the state which will be leveraged  on  by the achievements of the Ministry of Tourism by bringing in investors into the state.


 In his contribution, the Vice President, South-West Zone, Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria, Otunba Ayo Olumoko charged the newly inducted executive members to focus on training of its  members and the promotion of culture and tourism in the state.

In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Ogun State Chapter ITPN, Hon. Kelani Abolaji applauded the Ministry for its partnership ,vision and commitment to the growth and sustainability of the tourism sector in the State , adding that his tenure would ensure that it fosters sustainable public-private partnership that will bring  new opportunities and investment to the tourism and hospitality sector in line with the progressive vision of the Governor.

Highlights of the event was the induction of the Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Hon. Sesan Fagbayi as a fellow member of the Institute and other members.
