JUST IN: Ahoada-East LG Boss Denies Resignation, Claims He Was Attacked in Office - The Alternative News

The Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Goodluck Iheanacho, has denied reports of his resignation, insisting that he remains in office amid circulating claims of his exit and a controversial resignation letter.

Speaking during a radio interview on Saturday, Iheanacho refuted the authenticity of the letter dated June 20, 2025, which purportedly conveyed his decision to step down and return to private life. The letter, which has gone viral on social media, thanked the Rivers State Government and the people of Ahoada East for the opportunity to serve.

“I did not resign from my appointment as the sole administrator of Ahoada-East. I was attacked in my office, and the letter they brought was not signed by me. I know nothing about the letter,” Iheanacho declared.

He alleged that the document was falsified by hoodlums who invaded his office and carted away sensitive materials, including personal belongings and official documents.

“I want to tell members of the public that I did not resign as the sole administrator of Ahoada-East, and any other information aired is null and void. I am still the sole administrator of Ahoada-East,” he added.

However, the council’s Chief Security Officer, Hector Ekeakita, offered a conflicting version of events. In a separate radio interview, Ekeakita claimed the resignation was genuine and was made under intense pressure from aggrieved local youths.

“He (Iheanacho) was not attacked by thugs. Those were Ahoada-East youths who came in their mass to tell him, ‘please, our brother, you are siphoning money. Just two months in office, and the environment is still dirty. No staff comes to work. And he stays in Port Harcourt to administer the LGA,’” Ekeakita alleged.

According to Ekeakita, the mounting public dissatisfaction led to a confrontation that culminated in Iheanacho submitting the controversial resignation letter.

The situation adds further tension to the political atmosphere in Rivers State, where Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd.), the Sole Administrator of the state, had recently appointed caretakers across all 23 LGAs following the expiration of previous elected councils’ tenure.

As of press time, the state government has yet to issue an official statement to clarify the true status of the Ahoada-East administrator’s position.
