The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has openly reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that after God, the President holds the highest position of trust and respect in his life.

Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Monday, Umahi expressed deep gratitude for the President’s recent commendation of his achievements in infrastructure development. According to the minister, the recognition was not only encouraging but invaluable.

 “The President’s commendation is worth more than one trillion dollars to me,” Umahi said. “It reassures me that I am on the right track and that indeed, God answers prayers.”

The former Ebonyi State governor stressed that he takes instructions solely from God and President Tinubu, describing any form of betrayal toward the President as “devilish.”

 “I have told the President, even publicly, that my loyalty is to God first, and then to him,” Umahi said. “When someone places the kind of trust in you that President Tinubu has placed in me, it would be completely wrong and even devilish to betray that trust.”

“Have you seen where a man presides over the procurement of a project worth ₦1.6 trillion, and his boss does not summon him to ask questions about it? I’m referring to just one section of a larger project.”

“I pray every day that if I ever put myself, my family, or my friends above God, President Tinubu, and the Nigerian people, may God not answer my prayers.”

The minister also extended appreciation to those who have supported and prayed for him, pledging continuous prayers for President Tinubu and all who value and contribute to the administration’s efforts.

Umahi disclosed that around 30 major infrastructure projects are expected to be completed and inaugurated by December 20, noting that the pressure is now on contractors to deliver.

“I am actively engaged in the construction and inspection of projects across the six geo-political zones of the country,” he added.
