Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has re-affirmed that the State Council of Obas has become a viable platform for contributing to the socio-economic development of the State.
The Governor made this known during the Statutory Meeting of the State Council of Obas, at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, noting that the Council was in a better position to foster unity, peace, and harmony across traditional institutions, as well as promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Abiodun said that the recent upgrading of chieftaincy stools across the four traditional council’s highlights the critical role of traditional rulers in advancing the present administration’s “Building Our Future Together Agenda".
Governor Abiodun reiterated his administration's commitment towards creating a conducive environment for traditional institutions to thrive, calling on the royal fathers to make practical and improved recommendations that would support the delivery of good governance.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas and the Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, commended Governor Abiodun for repositioning the traditional institutions and prioritising the welfare of Monarchs, praying for divine wisdom and strength to continue to effectively steer the affairs of the State.
