Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a closed-door meeting on Wednesday in Abuja, amid preparations for the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, DAILY POST reports.
The meeting is currently taking place at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge, where the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma, is hosting his colleagues.
Among the early attendees are Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna).
Notably, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, a member of the opposition PDP, was also seen among early arrivals, raising speculation about a potential cross-party interaction.
Although the official agenda remains undisclosed, party insiders suggest that discussions may focus on the vacant APC National Chairmanship following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje in June. Ganduje cited personal health concerns for his exit, leaving a leadership vacuum ahead of key electoral contests, including gubernatorial elections in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun States.
The APC NEC meeting is expected to hold at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
