Be More Dedicated - SUBEB Boss Urges Teachers - The Alternative News

As part of the ongoing monitoring and supervision of the 2024/2025 Unified Promotion Examination in Public Primary Schools across the three senatorial districts of the State, teachers have been urged to show greater dedication to duties in order to maintain the high standard of education which the State is known for.

The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, gave the charge while speaking with Journalists during an inspection tour, described teaching as a noble calling and encouraged educators to approach it with innovation and commitment.

“Teaching is a calling, many people do not understand that, it is a gift given to certain individuals. Anyone who is a teacher has been gifted with the ability to teach. And when you are called to a profession, you must work hard at it, develop yourself and embrace innovation to improve continuously. Teachers should take the profession seriously. They were once students and now as teachers, I expect them to be more dedicated," Ifede said.

He assured the teaching workforce that government remains committed to supporting them and would continue to priotise their welfare as needs arise.

In their separate remarks, the Head teachers of St. Jude Anglican Primary School, Ijesha-Ijebu, Mrs. Victoria Adebanjo and Wesley Nursery and Primary School, Ilisan Remo, Mrs. Zainab Awoyemi, appreciated the SUBEB team for the visit, pledging to implement the directives given to them to improve the quality of teaching and learning in their schools.

Other schools visited during the inspection include Ansar-ud-Deen Nursery and Primary School, Irolu Remo; FOMWAN Nursery and Primary School, Ikenne Remo, among others.
