Suspected bandits launched a brutal attack on Zagami community in Yankara Ward, Faskari LGA, Katsina State, on Wednesday night, killing several people and abducting many others, including women and children.

According to security analyst Bakatsine, who shared the update on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the gunmen invaded the village around 8pm, firing indiscriminately at residents.

In one of the most heartbreaking moments of the attack, a three-day-old baby was reportedly killed, while the baby’s mother was abducted by the attackers.

Although the total number of casualties and abductees remains unconfirmed, residents described the attack as one of the worst in recent weeks.

As of now, authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but locals are pleading for immediate military intervention to stop further bloodshed in the region.
