Adamu Garba, an APC chieftain and former presidential aspirant, has raised concerns about the state of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and the party’s prospects, especially in the North, following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2025.
Speaking on Channels TV, Garba warned that sycophants surrounding Tinubu are feeding him false narratives about the country’s condition and the ruling party’s popularity.
He urged the president to listen to honest criticism rather than flattering misinformation, warning that such deception could cost the APC dearly.
Garba also emphasized a key shift in northern political dynamics, noting that the historic 12 million bloc votes that Buhari consistently secured in previous elections are no longer guaranteed for the APC.
He pointed to the sharp drop in northern support during the 2023 elections, down to 5.5 million votes, despite APC’s eventual victory, which he credited to strategy and party structure rather than popular northern support.
With the northern political landscape changing and Buhari's influence gone, Garba called for the APC to reassess and re-engineer its political strategies.
His warning comes amid a growing opposition, including from the ADC coalition, which has pledged to challenge Tinubu’s leadership in upcoming elections.
