The Nigerian presidency has announced that a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga disclosed the plan in a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will preside over the tribute session.

According to Onanuga, the special FEC session will begin at 5 PM and is dedicated to paying respects to the late leader.

This comes after the initial postponement of the session earlier in the week. Former President Buhari was buried on Tuesday in his hometown Daura, Katsina State, after passing away on Sunday at the London Clinic.
