Senate’s Lawyer Denies Warning Natasha Not to Return to NASS - The Alternative News

Paul Daudu, SAN, counsel to the Senate in the ongoing legal dispute involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has denied authoring an open letter allegedly warning her not to resume legislative duties at the National Assembly.

The letter, which circulated widely on social media and was purportedly from the law firm Paul Daudu, SAN & Co., claimed that the recent Federal High Court judgment in Natasha’s favour did not amount to a binding order overturning her suspension. It also allegedly advised her legal counsel, J.S. Okutepa, SAN, to restrain his client from returning to the Senate pending the release of an enrolled court order.

However, in a statement posted on his official Facebook handle, Daudu debunked the authenticity of the document, describing it as fake, unsigned, and unauthorized.

“Dear members of the public, please ignore the purported open letter written to J.S. Okutepa (SAN) making the rounds on social media,” Daudu wrote.
“It is unsigned and not issued by me. I do not know the source of that letter.”

He further condemned the use of his name and that of his law firm in the alleged document, labeling it a misrepresentation and reiterating his respect for Okutepa, whom he described as “a father and mentor in the profession.”

Daudu emphasized that his legal practice is guided by professionalism and that he confines his arguments strictly to the courtroom.

The fake letter, dated July 5, 2025, had warned of potential unrest in the Senate chamber if Senator Natasha returned without an official court order.
